T’puram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said the state govt would initiate follow-up action on the recommendations emerging from Vision 2031 international conference, describing the exercise as a participatory framework to guide Kerala’s development as it approaches its 75th year.Delivering the valedictory address of the three-day conference on Tuesday, Vijayan said the discussions evolved beyond a technical policy document into a shared roadmap shaped by evidence, debate and democratic consultation. He said the govt would place matters requiring legislation before the assembly, prepare detailed reports where further research and planning were necessary and take policy decisions based on the proposals discussed.Vijayan said the conference brought together economists, social scientists, technologists, local govt representatives and citizens, reflecting Kerala’s tradition of participatory governance. He said public policy formulation in the state was not a closed exercise but one shaped through dialogue between the govt and society.Tracing Kerala’s development trajectory, Vijayan said the state’s experience — from land reforms and investments in public education and health to social security measures and decentralised planning — is based on public action and democratic institutions. He reiterated that markets alone cannot ensure social justice and that collective mobilisation is central to Kerala’s human development achievements.
