Mandya: Mandya district administration acted tough against the sacrifice of animals at a temple in Krishnarajapete.Following a complaint by PeTA India, which said that piglets were brought to the temple premises and slaughtered in broad daylight, which was submitted to the Mandya district administration, immediate action was taken to stop the practice and an FIR was registered.
Acting on the complaint, DC Kumara directed the animal husbandry department to issue a notice to the temple authorities even as jurisdictional Krishnarajapete police registered an FIR under various sections of the Karnataka Prohibition of Animal Sacrifices Act, 1959, and the BNS, 2023.Speaking to TOI, Ananda Gowda, inspector of KR Pet Rural police, said, “Based on a complaint, we filed an FIR against the Sri Kshetra Chandagonahalli Amma temple authorities. It was alleged that the practice was going on for many days, and we told the temple authorities that such sacrifice should not be entertained.”
