To be built at cost of ₹300 crore

Chennai: Tamil Nadu will build a 400-bed multi-super-specialty government hospital in Perambur at a cost of ₹300 crore, aiming to bring advanced care within easier reach of North Chennai residents.The State already has the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital at Omandurar and the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital in Guindy. Officials said the proposed Perambur facility would reduce the distance North Chennai patients must travel for specialised treatment and form part of a broader effort to close healthcare gaps in urban neighbourhoods.Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, which provides tertiary-care services, is often overcrowded. Patients requiring specialised services are frequently referred to the hospitals in Omandurar and Guindy.
