Vasco: A woman pedestrian was killed in an accident at Mangor-Hill, Vasco on Saturday, the second casualty involving a Thar within 24 hours.On Friday, a drunk man driving a Thar was hit by a scooterist, who later succumbed to injuries at the hospital the same day. The rider’s nephew, who was travelling as a pillion passenger, was also injured.The accident occurred near La-Rose building at Mangor-Hill, around 12.15pm, when a speeding Thar driven by Abhijit Rane, from Orulem, Vasco, allegedly in a rash and negligent manner, hit Genadevi Jaiswar from Baina as she was walking along the side of the road, police said.Jaiswar sustained injuries on the back of her head due to the fall. She was rushed to Chicalim sub district hospital, but shifted to GMC due to the severity of her condition.Vasco police are investigating the case further.Last week, in a hit-and-run case in Sirlim, Margao, a speeding Thar from Maharashtra critically injured a local woman rider, prompting police to slap an attempt to murder charge on the driver.The accused who fled from the scene was traced to Calangute with the help of CCTV footage. The Thar involved in the accident was also seized.
