Chandigarh: In its continued focus on the Dalits and backward classes, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday appointed Pearl Chaudhary as the new president of the Haryana Mahila Congress.Pearl replaces Sudha Bhardwaj, who led Mahila Congress in Haryana for over three years.

A prominent Dalit face in Haryana Congress, Pearl Chaudhary, who is in her mid-40s, had unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections from the Pataudi (reserve) assembly constituency last year.Pearly is known to be the choice of incumbent Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh and leader of opposition Bhupinder Hooda.
