Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has decided to incorporate city’s upcoming ropeway project into the Metro’s Detailed Project Report (DPR). The revised plan aims to provide seamless connectivity between the two mass transit systems through a common interchange station at Parade.PDA has directed RITES, the railway consultancy firm preparing the Metro DPR, to include the ropeway component and submit the revised report by Aug 15. After technical scrutiny, the DPR will be forwarded to the Uttar Pradesh govt for approval.According to PDA officials, both the Metro and ropeway stations are proposed to be developed within the same complex at Parade, enabling passengers to switch between the two systems without leaving the station premises.The Metro proposal envisages a 44-km network with two corridors intersecting at Parade, which has been planned as the city’s central interchange. The ropeway project is expected to connect Parade with Arail across the Yamuna, offering faster access to the Sangam area and easing congestion during major religious gatherings, including the Kumbh and Magh Mela.The integration of the two projects is expected to improve last-mile connectivity while creating a unified public transport network for residents, tourists and pilgrims. Officials believe the combined Metro-ropeway system will significantly reduce travel time, decongest roads and provide an efficient transport alternative for the rapidly expanding city.
