Prayagraj: Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for house tax dues on Aug 15. The scheme, introduced by the state govt, is set to benefit around 1.25 lakh property owners by offering a 100% waiver on accumulated interest and allowing payment of the principal tax in up to three instalments.Under the scheme, property owners can clear their outstanding house tax without paying any interest component. For instance, a property in Atarsuiya with property ID 0279000020 has total dues of Rs 98,040, including Rs 41,839 as interest. Under the OTS scheme, the entire interest amount will be waived, reducing the payable amount to Rs 56,201.Chief tax assessment officer, PMC, Sanjay Mamgai, said that around 1.25 lakh property owners would be covered under the scheme and would get the benefit of complete interest waiver along with the option to pay their outstanding principal house tax in a maximum of three instalments. The municipal corporation has also started sending forms to property owners eligible under the scheme.The OTS initiative is aimed at encouraging property owners with long-pending dues to clear their liabilities and improving house tax collection by the civic body. Officials said the waiver of accumulated interest could provide significant relief to those whose outstanding amounts have increased substantially over the years due to interest.Property owners can apply for the scheme at their respective zonal offices. They can also submit applications online through the PMC website. Applicants will have to attach documents such as the previous house tax payment receipt or property tax notice along with their application.The civic body has urged eligible property owners to make use of the scheme to settle their dues under the special waiver arrangement.
