Chennai: The state govt has decided to provide 6% pay increase and additional service weightage for employees of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), following discussions with employee representatives.The employees would receive a 6% salary hike with effect from Dec 1, 2023. In addition, employees who completed 10 years of service as on that date will receive a 3% service weightage increase. Officials with 10 years of service will also be eligible for the same 3% service weightage benefit. Apart from the pay revision, a special allowance ranging from 3,000 to 7,000 will be provided to employees.According to an official release, the decision was taken in line with directives from chief minister M K Stalin and under the guidance of electricity minister S S Sivasankar.The salary revision will be notionally effective from Dec 1, 2023, while financial benefits will take effect from Dec 1, 2025. For the interim period between Dec 1, 2023 and Nov 30, 2025, employees will receive a notional monthly allowance of 500 for 24 months. In addition, a one-time notional allowance will be paid for the period from Dec 1, 2025 to Feb 28, 2026.
