Bengaluru: With International Day of Yoga (June 21) falling on a Sunday this year, Bengalureans are keener than ever to take a break and rejuvenate themselves. To support this, several organisations are holding special open events, including cultural performances.The theme for the 12th edition of Yoga Day is Yoga for Healthy Aging, highlighting how practising yoga promotes longevity, mobility and preventive healthcare across aging populations.To promote physical, mental and emotional well-being, a mass yoga session and various cultural programmes will be organised by Sahaja Yoga Karnataka in association with Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (SMVIT) from 6.30am to 9.30am on SMVIT campus. The event will be headlined by an ensemble of 100 flautists attempting to set a world record.Similarly, seeking to attempt 21 world records in a single day, Akshar Yoga Kendraa is bringing together 5,000 participants from various walks of life, including members of the armed forces, CRPF, CISF, BSF, police, students, children, families, senior citizens, yoga practitioners and international participants to perform yoga.Encouraging people to take a break and focus on their well-being, Prajna Wisdom Centre will hold Drop Everything and Recharge DEAR programme, including meditation, pranayama and other yoga-related activities.On state govt’s behalf, department of Ayush will organise yoga day celebrations in front of Vidhana Soudha.
