Kanpur: Governor and chancellor Anandiben Patel on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a series of infrastructure projects at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) aimed at strengthening academic, sports, healthcare and student facilities on the campus.The event was attended by higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay, minister of state for higher education Rajni Tiwari, vice-chancellor Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak and other university officials.Among the completed projects inaugurated were the new building of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Archery Lawn and Boxing Ring Shed under the Department of Physical Education, the Swarn Jayanti Purush Chhatravas (boys’ hostel), the expanded third floor of the Department of Social Work, and the renovated Type-I residential colony on the campus.The Governor also laid the foundation stone for several new projects, including a modern Convention Centre, a Punarvas Kendra (Rehabilitation Centre) and a Multispeciality Hospital to strengthen healthcare facilities on the campus.Foundation stones were also laid for a 100-bed women’s hostel, a 100-bed men’s hostel, the Electronics and Communication building, and the expansion of the first and second floors of the Science Block.Other projects include the extension of the third floor of the UIET-IV building and the construction of an LT Panel Room to improve connectivity between the university’s electrical substations.
