Mysuru: Acting on a complaint, staff attached to Mysuru Division of South Western Railway helped recover a missing laptop bag and other belongings of a passenger travelling on train no 16585.The complainant, Abhishek, had travelled from Holenarsipur to Mangaluru Junction on the train. During the journey, he noticed that his laptop bag was missing from his berth.The bag contained a laptop valued at approximately Rs 80,000/-, a laptop charger, a gold chain, a wristwatch and identity cards. The passenger suspected that the bag might have gone missing somewhere between Holenarsipur and Sakleshpur in Hassan district, though the exact location of the incident could not be ascertained.Following the complaint, the Railway Protection Force conducted an enquiry.During subsequent checking, on-duty TTE Chandra Nayak noticed a person travelling by train no 17302 (Belagavi–Mysuru) under suspicious circumstances. The person was detained and handed over to the RPF Outpost at KR Nagar for further action.During enquiry, the person admitted to having stolen the laptop bag from train no 16585 in the section between Holenarsipur and Hassan, officials stated.The detained person was subsequently handed over to the sub-inspector, Govt Railway Police (GRP), KR Nagar, Mysuru, for further investigation and necessary legal action. The recovered belongings were secured and handed over to the owner after due verification, they stated.In case of any loss, theft or security-related issue, passengers are encouraged to immediately report the matter through RailMadad (139) or approach the nearest railway staff/RPF personnel for prompt assistance, stated a release.
