Margao: The 10th Chaturmasya vrata of Vidyadheesh Teerth Shreepad Vader Swami, the 24th mathadhish of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, commenced on Aug 5 with elaborate vedic rituals at the mutt at Partagal, Canacona. This marks the first such observance since the institution’s 550th anniversary celebrations which concluded last year.The day-long ceremonies included Ganapati Pooja, Mrittika Pooja, Vyasa Pooja and Sankalpa, culminating in the formal commencement of the four-month religious vow. This is the fourth time Swamiji has undertaken Chaturmasya at the Partagali kendra mutt, having earlier observed it at Hubballi, Badrinath, Kumta, Panvel, Bengaluru and Varanasi.The occasion also saw the inauguration of the Jeevottam Vidyapeetha Vedic Pathashala, aimed at imparting Vedic and Sanskrit education, along with the mutt’s revamped website offering online seva bookings, Panchanga details and other information.The Chaturmasya will continue till Sep 26, featuring Trikala Pooja, religious discourses, bhajans and celebrations of festivals including Krishna Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi, as also health camps and blood donation drives.The event was attended by former deputy chief minister Digambar Kamat, Gokarn Mutt Central Committee president Srinivas Dempo, and a number of devotees from across India and abroad.
