Ahmedabad: A parking dispute near Vaishnodevi Circle turned violent early Monday, leaving a 32-year-old travel businessman critically injured and unconscious. Sola police have registered an FIR for attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt and abetment against two accused. The victim, Saurabh Bhatt, was attacked outside a café around 12.15 am, according to a complaint filed by his father.Police said Bhatt’s friend, Jigar Panchal, who was present at the scene, told investigators that the confrontation began in the cafe’s parking area. Panchal said he received a call from another friend, Ajay Lohar, about a quarrel involving Bhatt over parking his car. When Panchal reached the spot, he saw Bhatt entering the snooker club area with a stick and questioning those involved in the dispute.At that point, an accused, Vicky, allegedly confronted him, while another accused, Vishvaraj Zala, is said to have caught hold of Bhatt from behind. During the scuffle, Vicky allegedly snatched the stick from Bhatt and struck him on the head and face. Police said the assault continued even after Bhatt fell to the ground, with repeated blows to his head, face and thigh. Panchal also alleged that when he tried to intervene, Vicky slapped him and continued the attack.“The blows were so severe that Bhatt collapsed and became unresponsive,” Panchal told police. Bhatt was taken to a private hospital near Vaishnodevi Circle. Doctors told the family he had suffered haemorrhage on both sides of the brain, fractures on the right cheek and from the left cheek to the ear, along with other injuries.Bhatt’s friend, Yash Barot, informed the family of the incident in the early hours, after which the complaint was lodged. Sola police registered an FIR of attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt and abetment against Vicky and Vishvaraj Zala.
