Nawanshahr: Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party govt ahead of the presentation of the final budget of its term, Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Monday claimed that the Bhagwant Mann dispensation failed to release pensions for elderly citizens and widows for months, and employee salaries were paid through fresh loans.Addressing a press conference here, Pargat Singh also questioned the govt’s promise of financial assistance to women while it remained unable to fulfil existing obligations.“In such a dire fiscal state, where will the govt find the funds to fulfil new promises to the women of Punjab?” he asked. The senior leader demanded the immediate release of all pending pensions, noting that many families rely solely on these small sums for survival. He said if the govt intended to provide Rs 1,100 per month to each eligible woman, it must first settle the Rs 48,000 in arrears owed from the last four years of unfulfilled promises. The Congress leader also challenged the govt to clarify its funding sources in the upcoming budget. “Is the govt simply preparing to bury the state under even more debt?” he asked.MSID:: 128949088 413 |
