Kendrapada: The ministry of ports, shipping and waterways has approved the development of a dedicated jetty with allied facilities for handling green hydrogen, ammonia and other liquid cargo at Paradip port at an estimated cost of Rs 797.17 crore. The project will be executed by the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on a build-operate-transfer basis, port authorities said on Thursday.PPA chairman P L Haranadh said the proposed facility will have a handling capacity of four million tonnes per annum and will play a key role in positioning Paradip as a green-energy cargo hub. The project includes a dedicated jetty, storage systems, pipelines, handling equipment and other infrastructure.The port authority will provide 20% capital support (Rs 159.43 crore) during construction. The project is targeted for completion within 24 months, Haranadh added.
