Nagpur: The discovery of a foetus near Dangore Layout in Bokhara, under Koradi police station limits, on Sunday triggered panic among residents.During the investigation, Koradi police traced the incident to a 21-year-old woman who was around three-and-a-half to four months pregnant. Police sources said she had conceived during a relationship.According to police, the woman was out on a morning walk with her mother when she began bleeding. After returning home, she suffered a miscarriage in the bathroom. In a state of panic, she severed the umbilical cord and separated the placenta before disposing of the foetus by throwing it from a window at the rear of the house.The remains were later noticed by passersby, leading to a commotion and prompting a police inquiry.Koradi police have registered a case under Section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to the exposure or abandonment of a child below 12 years of age by a parent or caregiver and carries a punishment of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both. No arrest has been made so far.
