Panchkula: The municipal corporation (MC) has identified property tax arrears worth Rs 37.68 crore from 697 properties with outstanding dues exceeding Rs 2 lakh each. The list includes both private and govt properties, which have been served notices to clear long-pending payments.According to MC records, private properties account for Rs 25.95 crore of the arrears, while govt properties owe Rs 11.73 crore.Among private defaulters, Hotel North Park, Sector 32, tops the list with dues of nearly Rs 2 crore. It is followed by Appworx IT Solutions Pvt Ltd, IT Park, Sector 22 (Rs 77.11 lakh), New Bansal Electronics (Rs 40.04 lakh), Satyam I Way (Rs 38.97 lakh), Hotel Elm Bisaat Cuisine and Culture (Rs 21.90 lakh) and MS Rolling Construction Pvt Ltd (Rs 20.15 lakh). Other prominent defaulters include The Bella Vista Hotel and Mall (Rs 13.81 lakh), SSIEL Hotels & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (Rs 12.14 lakh) and Shalimar Estates Pvt Ltd (Rs 11.30 lakh).The list also includes commercial establishments, hospitals, educational institutions and hospitality businesses such as Paras Hospital, Indian Bank premises, Bosch Car Services, Suraj Theatre, Satluj Public School, The Sky World School, Sindhi Sweets, Hotel Golden Tulip, KC Cross Road Hotel, Hanu Overseas Hotel, Bharat Petroleum outlets and several industrial units in Alipur Industrial Area.Govt departments and public sector entities account for a substantial share of the arrears. The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is the largest govt defaulter, with dues of around Rs 2.74 crore. UHBVN owes more than Rs 35 lakh.The public works department (B&R), Sector 1, has pending dues of Rs 17.87 lakh, while the agriculture and farmers’ welfare department’s Krishi Bhawan, Sector 21, owes Rs 15.10 lakh. Other major defaulters include another agriculture department property in Sector 21 (Rs 11.76 lakh), the Haryana govt printing press, Sector 6 (Rs 11.41 lakh) and NIFT, Sector 23 (Rs 6.05 lakh).Other govt establishments on the list include the HSVP Gymkhana Club, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, BSNL Telephone Exchange, central GST department, income tax department, excise and taxation department and the irrigation department.Despite offering a 100% waiver on interest on property tax arrears till June 30, the civic body recovered only Rs 5.92 crore. Panchkula has 1,04,631 properties, of which 44,002 (42.05%) have been self-certified.75% interest rebate till Aug 31The MC has extended relief on arrears till Aug 31, offering a 75% rebate on interest for property tax dues pending from 2010-11 to 2024-25. Property owners can self-certify their properties through the Property Tax Dues Payment and No Dues Certificate Management Portal.
