Patna: The headquarters team of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Wednesday arrested Jitendra Kumar, panchayat rozgar sevak of Sirajabad panchayat in Sakra block of Muzaffarpur district, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs20,000. He was arrested at a shopping mart near Subha Chowk under Sakra police station limits.According to the VIB, the accused had allegedly demanded the bribe for facilitating MGNREGA-related work in the complainant’s ward.The bureau said Aditya Kumar, a resident of Sirajabad under Sakra police station area and the ward member of Ward No. 11, lodged a complaint at the VIB headquarters in Patna on July 14, alleging that Jitendra Kumar had demanded Rs20,000 to get MGNREGA-related work executed in his ward.After verifying the complaint and finding the allegations prima facie true, the VIB registered a corruption case against the accused.A trap team headed by Vikas Kumar Srivastava, senior DSP, VIB, Patna, was constituted. During the operation, Jitendra Kumar was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.After interrogation, the accused will be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur. Further investigation is underway.
