On Friday, Anushka, a panchayati raj officer in Nalanda district, was taken into custody by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. She stands accused of receiving a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a contractor in exchange for facilitating the payment of bills linked to the construction materials for Chhath ghats.

Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau arrested Nagarnausa block panchayati raj officer Anushka on Friday for allegedly accepting a Rs 12,000 bribe from Ajay Kumar in Nalanda district. The bureau’s headquarters team apprehended the officer in her office following a complaint that she had demanded payment to clear bills for materials supplied during the construction of a Chhath ghat.Deputy superintendent of police Pawan Kumar-II led the raiding team during the operation. Authorities will present the accused before the special vigilance court in Patna after concluding the initial interrogation.This incident marks the 34th case registered by the bureau in 2026 and the 29th trap operation of the year. So far, the agency has arrested 23 people red-handed and recovered a total of Rs 8.84 lakh in bribe money.
