Gurgaon: A 52-year-old man was allegedly shot dead in Jawahar Nagar Camp of Palwal late Saturday night in a suspected revenge killing, after which the 19-year-old alleged assailant walked into Camp police station, placed a country-made pistol on the SHO’s table, and told police he had avenged his mother’s murder and come to surrender.The accused, identified as Dushyant alias Deva, was carrying the pistol and three live cartridges and was taken into custody. The deceased, Suresh alias Dalip, had been an accused in the 2023 murder of Dushyant’s mother and was out on bail for around five months.According to police, Suresh was sitting outside his house in Jawahar Nagar Camp when Dushyant allegedly arrived with six others — Devender, Jonny, Ravi, Jai Singh, Asha and Nisha. An argument broke out over the old enmity, after which Dushyant and Devender allegedly attacked Suresh with knives before shooting him. He was rushed to the district civil hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.Dushyant told police his mother had been killed following a dispute over the construction of a speed breaker in the locality.Camp police station SHO Krishan Gopal said a case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s wife against seven accused, under sections 103(1), 190 and 191(3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 25(1-B)(a) of the Arms Act.Gopal said police were examining the sequence of events and the individual role of every person named in the FIR. The other six accused have not yet been arrested, and teams have been sent to different locations to trace them.The victim’s wife, Suveena, alleged that police failed to immediately take her injured husband to hospital despite him still breathing when they arrived at the spot. She claimed she was asked to wait while police questioned people, and eventually took Suresh to hospital herself in an e-rickshaw. She further alleged the attackers also tried to throw her and her young grandchildren off the roof.According to the family, Suresh had secured bail around five months ago because his wife was suffering from cancer and required his care. Suresh is survived by his wife and two sons, Ankush and Sahil, both based in the city. Sahil was also jailed in connection with the murder case involving Dushyant’s mother and is currently out on bail, the family said.The investigation is being led by SI Sumit, with police teams conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused and probing the alleged 2023 murder, the claimed revenge motive, and the exact circumstances of Suresh’s killing.
