Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary said criminals on bail are under the lens as their slipping into the world of crime can’t be ruled out

Daltonganj: In a probable “first-of-its-kind initiative”, Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary on Sunday lined up 117 “criminals on bail” at the Chainpur police station and in a “soft but stern” language told them “not to look towards the world of crime again” for their own interest, a statement issued by the police said.Officer in-charge of the Chainpur police station, Lalji, said, “The 117 included those accused of murder, rape, Arms Act violations, loot, theft, and other cognisable offences. Two women, accused of perpetrating domestic violence, were also present in the line-up.”A total of 33 were booked under violators of the Arms Act, 26 for murder, 15 each in loot and theft cases, while 29 others were accused in other crimes. One person among the 117 is required to make daily police station attendance, while two others report once a month at the Chainpur police station, a police officer said. The purpose was to impress upon those on bail and the acquitted to stay away from crime. SP Chaudhary had earlier said, “Criminals on bail are under the lens as their slipping into the world of crime can’t be ruled out.”The message was clear: “Adhere to the rigours of bail as any violation will mean incarceration.”
