NAGPUR: A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly hiring contract killers to murder her husband following domestic disputes, while another accused has also been taken into custody, according to police. Police are continuing their search for two more suspects, including a juvenile, who are believed to be involved in the case.The victim, identified as 45-year-old Ganesh Borkar, was attacked with sharp weapons near Bhandewadi on the night of July 2 while returning home from a tea stall. He died at the scene. Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, a murder case was registered at Bhandewadi Police Station.During the investigation, the Crime Branch worked with Bhandewadi Police to examine technical evidence, gather local intelligence and record statements from family members. Investigators said suspicion centred on the victim’s wife after they found that the couple had frequent domestic disputes and that she had allegedly threatened him in the past.Police identified the woman as Manisha Borkar. During questioning, she allegedly admitted to plotting the murder. Investigators said she had been living separately with her children because of marital disputes and had allegedly hired contract killers by offering them Rs 1 lakh to kill her husband.According to police, Rs 50,000 was allegedly paid in advance, while the remaining amount was to be handed over after the murder was carried out.Police have arrested Manisha Borkar and 29-year-old Abhijit Sakhare in connection with the case. Two other accused, identified as Rohit Borkar and a juvenile, are absconding, and efforts are underway to trace them.Police said the deceased had a criminal history and was facing 18 criminal cases, including charges of attempted murder, illegal liquor-related offences and other crimes.The investigation is ongoing to determine the role of all those allegedly involved in the conspiracy and to arrest the remaining accused. Further legal proceedings are underway.
