Aizawl: Assam Rifles, acting on intelligence inputs, conducted a joint operation with Mizoram Police at Ngopa town in Saitual district on Sunday and seized 1.612 kg of heroin at two locations. In the first action, one person was arrested after a modified concealed chamber was found behind a vehicle’s rear number plate. The compartment contained 109 soap cases with 1.180 kg of heroin, valued at Rs 8.85 crore, and the vehicle was seized. In a second operation the same day, 432 grams of heroin worth Rs 3.24 crore were seized, a truck was impounded, and one suspect detained. All seizures were handed to Ngopa Police for action under the NDPS Act, 1985, reports HC Vanlalruata.
