Kolkata: Measures were taken up to destroy mosquito breeding grounds at 27,378 locations during the three-day state-wide cleanliness and dengue prevention campaign conducted by the state urban development and municipal affairs department between Sept 3 and 5.As part of the drive, 6,065 clogged drains have been cleaned. Garbage has been removed from 1,608 locations. Roadside waste has been cleared from 4,511 spots. The drive covered more than 1,600 wards in 128 municipalities, spanning 22 districts in the state. CM Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday urged the people of the state to transform the three day ‘Swachhata Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Cleanliness Pledge Campaign) into a mass movement. “Our resolve for a clean West Bengal is the ‘Swachhata Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Cleanliness Pledge Campaign),” he wrote on X.Adhikari said the campaigns were conducted at markets, schools, colleges, govt offices, and health centres. The drive covered 1,106 markets, 1,304 school and college campuses, 544 govt office premises and 315 hospital premises. The CM said awareness was raised through the distribution of over 35,000 information, education, and communication materials.
