Kulgam, Oct 07: The Social Welfare Department, Kulgam, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), organised a distribution camp under the Assistance to Persons with Disabilities (ADIP) Scheme and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) at the Conference Hall of the Mini-Secretariat, Kulgam.
The camp was aimed at benefiting persons with disabilities and senior citizens by providing assistive devices to promote mobility, independence and an improved quality of life.
The distribution was carried out in the presence of MLA Kulgam Mohd. Yousuf Tarigami, District Social Welfare Officer Kulgam Rameez Raja Ganie and other officials of the Social Welfare Department.
More than 140 beneficiaries were covered during the camp and provided assistive devices according to their assessed needs. The devices included hearing aids, battery-operated tricycles, wheelchairs, walking sticks, braces and other assistive aids.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO in facilitating beneficiaries and ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the intended sections of society.
