Chennai: Former CM O Panneerselvam and revenue minister K A Sengottaiyan on Tuesday traded charges against each other on switching parties. The debate started with O Panneerselvam alleging that the state budget presented by finance minister N Marie Wilson had no new schemes, instead it was filled with schemes implemented by DMK. He said people of the state were disappointed with the budget.Hitting back, revenue minister K A Sengottaiyan said just because OPS switched to DMK, he need not heap lofty praises on DMK. Sengottaiyan said the entire state appreciated the budget. In response, OPS said it was Sengottaiyan who first switched over to TVK from AIADMK.School education minister A Rajmohan intervened and said that despite Sengottaiyan joining TVK, chief minister C Joseph Vijay had asked him to keep the photo of former CM J Jayalalithaa, but on the other side Panneerselvam had changed both the party and the photo.PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna said that Sengottaiyan might have switched sides but he still has Jayalalithaa close to his heart by having her photo, but Panneerselvam who was made chief minister by Jayalalithaa was in the party that was against Jayalalithaa.Panneerselvam said leaders such as Periyar, former CMs C N Annadurai, M Karunanidhi, M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa were in his heart and that he doesn’t have to “cheat” others by displaying their photos.
