President Droupadi Murmu has agreed to meet leaders of the Opposition INDIA bloc at 8 pm on Friday, PTI reported, citing sources.
The meeting comes amid intensified protests by Opposition parties demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. INDIA bloc MPs, who were stopped by police during marches towards the Election Commission’s office earlier this week, shifted their protest to Raj Ghat on Thursday. The Opposition has sought the President’s intervention in the matter.
