Prayagraj: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a sharp attack on the opposition parties on Saturday, saying they are “frustrated and desperate” and claimed they will not return to power till 2047 due to a lack of real issues. Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating the Saras Mela at Parade Ground, Maurya said the opposition repeatedly tried to mislead the public, but people are now aware of such attempts.Maurya exhorted party workers, saying gear up for 2027 by connecting with people, highlighting govt schemes, and countering the opposition’s misinformation agenda. He said the purpose of the Saras Mela is to provide economic opportunities to women associated with self-help groups by enabling them to sell their products. According to Maurya, the initiative aims to strengthen the financial condition of poor families and help them move towards prosperity.He said the double-engine govt is running several welfare schemes to empower women and make them self-reliant, which would contribute to the vision of a developed Uttar Pradesh and a developed India.Meanwhile, Bhojpuri actor and BJP MP from Gorakhpur Ravi Kishan, who was also in Prayagraj to participate in a Holi and Basant festival, addressed mediapersons and praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said empowering women and daughters remains a key priority of the Prime Minister, and that the mission is being carried forward in Uttar Pradesh by CM Yogi Adityanath.Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s demand to confer the Bharat Ratna on BSP founder Kanshi Ram, Kishan said the Congress ruled the country for decades but failed to give adequate recognition to leaders from backward communities. He also criticised the opposition for disrupting Parliament, saying valuable time and public money are wasted when proceedings are stalled.On reports of an LPG shortage due to global tensions, Kishan said there is no scarcity of cylinders in the country and urged people not to panic, adding that misinformation is being spread by opposition parties.
