Srinagar, May 26: One person lost his life while three others were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) skidded off the Foreshore Road and plunged into Dal Lake in Srinagar on Monday evening, officials said.
According to officials, the accident occurred near Lashkari Mohalla when an EcoSport vehicle bearing registration number JK01V-3260 reportedly hit a roadside divider before falling into the lake.Four youths were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
One of the occupants died on the spot, while the remaining three sustained injuries and were immediately rescued by locals and emergency responders.
The deceased has been identified as Zameen Ahmad, son of Showkat Ahmad, a resident of Rainawari.
The injured were shifted to SKIMS Soura for medical treatment, where their condition is stated to be stable, officials added.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation into the cause of the accident.
