Gurgaon: A tractor driver was arrested for allegedly obstructing a civic team during an anti-dumping drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and abusing a staff member in Sheetla Colony last week.The FIR was registered at Sector 5 police station on Feb 21 under sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 221 (voluntarily obstructing a public servant in discharge of public functions) and 271 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of BNS.According to a complaint filed by 38-year-old Amit, a clerk with the Special Sanitation Force (SSF) team posted in Sector 34, the incident took place on Feb 19 when the team was conducting checks against illegal dumping in the area.Amit said the team stopped a tractor driven by Rahul, a resident of Sheetla Colony, for allegedly transporting construction debris on the road without covering it with a tarpaulin. During the inspection, the driver began arguing and used abusive language.An officer said the accused allegedly parked his tractor in front of the SSF vehicle, blocking its movement and preventing the team from carrying out its duty. Amid the confrontation, Amit got stuck in debris that fell from the tractor.The complainant further said the driver left the tractor at the spot after the altercation.Following a written complaint, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Police said the accused joined the investigation on Sunday and was subsequently arrested. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether similar violations were committed earlier.
