Hyderabad: Olectra Greentech, which is part of the Megha Engineering & Infrastructures group, on Monday said it received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) for 1,085 electric buses to be deployed in Hyderabad. The LOI was issued by TGSRTC through Evey Trans under the PM E-DRIVE initiative led by Convergence Energy Services (CESL), which focuses on accelerating electric public transport adoption across Indian cities. The buses for this order will be 12-metre low-floor models in both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned variants, designed for Indian road conditions and high-frequency urban operations. The buses will be equipped with front and rear air suspension systems, high-capacity lithium-ion battery packs with a range of over 250 kilometres per charge, and opportunity charging (recharging through the day) capability of about 45 minutes. The fleet will also include dedicated wheelchair accommodation to ensure accessible transit. The Hyderabad-headquartered manufacturer said the order reinforces its position in India’s electric bus market, where it deployed over 3,600 electric vehicles across the country, with an order book of over 10,000 vehicles.Olectra Greentech Managing Director Mahesh Babu said the order marks a milestone for the company’s electric mobility expansion in Telangana and aligns with the Make in India vision. He said Olectra will work with TGSRTC to deliver efficient and sustainable public transportation while supporting clean energy and net-zero goals.
