Times News NetworkKanpur: In compliance with DG Circular No.-42/25 to develop the district as a “Zero Fatality District (Zero Fatality District-ZFD)” and bring about an effective reduction in road accidents, a review meeting was held at the Yatayat Bhawan here on Monday. The meeting was chaired by deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) Ravindra Kumar.During the meeting, officials carried out a detailed analysis of road accidents that occurred in the district and reviewed their causes, circumstances and sensitive locations in depth. The DCP directed that special attention be focused on accident-prone locations (black spots) and that effective traffic enforcement, regular monitoring and necessary corrective measures be ensured there.The DCP said that reducing road accidents is not only a matter of enforcement, but also an important responsibility related to public safety. “For this, all concerned officers will have to adopt a coordinated and accountable working style so that the real causes of accidents can be identified, effective steps can be taken for their prevention, and the recurrence of such incidents in the future can be prevented.”During the meeting, while discussing various aspects of road safety, instructions were given to conduct effective enforcement drives against violations of mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, over-speeding, driving in the wrong direction, driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic rules. At the same time, emphasis was also laid on organising extensive public awareness programmes to make the general public aware of traffic rules.The DCP instructed the officers present to work with full commitment to achieve the targets set under the Zero Fatality District (ZFD) campaign and to ensure effective action at every level to reduce road accidents, so that a smooth, safe and organised traffic system can be established in the district.
