Bhubaneswar: World Skill Centre (WSC), Bhubaneswar, is set to provide technical expertise and implementation support for a proposed World Skills Centre and Employability Hub at Hapania in Agartala, Tripura, with the Odisha govt asking the institute to take forward the collaboration.The skill development & technical education (SDTE) department on Wednesday directed the CEO of WSC, Bhubaneswar, to act on a proposal from the Tripura govt and extend necessary support for the project.The proposed facility is planned over 3.7 acres at Hapania Institutional Zone in Agartala, with an approximate built-up area of 3,00,000 sq ft. It is envisaged as a state-of-the-art skill development ecosystem aimed at providing advanced skill training to students of Tripura across eight sectors, aligned with industry requirements and emerging workforce demands.According to the Tripura govt proposal, the directorate of skill development had earlier signed an MoU with WSC, Bhubaneswar, on March 23, 2026. It subsequently issued a work order on May 16 for WSC to provide advisory support for establishing an interim World Skills Centre offering a beauty and wellness course at an existing facility in Bodhjungnagar, Agartala.Officials said building on this collaboration, Tripura has proposed engaging WSC, Bhubaneswar, as the knowledge partner for the larger world skills centre and employability hub at Hapania, citing its expertise in designing and establishing industry-aligned advanced skill training centres.
