Bhubaneswar: A Rs 4.4 crore light and sound show at the historic Khandagiri-Udayagiri caves was launched on Sunday by deputy CM Pravati Parida on World Tourism Day.Executed by ITDC, the 16-minute immersive show uses projections, lighting and multi-channel sound to narrate the story of Emperor Kharavela and the evolution and spread of Jainism in the region.The show, presented in Odia and English, brings the caves, sculptures and inscriptions alive through visual projections on the rock surfaces. It will have two shows daily from Monday, with each show accommodating 120 visitors.The tourism department and ASI officials had recently inspected the facility and reviewed the audio-visual presentation. The facility has been developed in consultation with ASI to comply with heritage conservation norms.
