Bhubaneswar: Marking a significant improvement in the state’s grievance redressal mechanism, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said 96% of complaints received during the first 18 rounds of the CM Public Grievance Hearing initiative were resolved, helping boost public confidence in the administration.At the 19th round of the programme at Unit II here, Majhi said 14,331 of the 14,941 petitions received so far were successfully disposed of. Officials said more than 700 grievance petitions were received during Monday’s hearing through online and offline modes.The chief minister, accompanied by six senior ministers, heard people’s grievances and reviewed the progress of complaint resolution. He said the grievance monitoring system was being closely supervised from the state headquarters down to the district level, resulting in a steadily improving disposal rate.Highlighting the wider reach of the programme, Majhi said district collectors and superintendents of police were regularly conducting public hearings, while similar exercises were being held at tehsil and block levels. According to official data, 2.59 lakh grievances were received at the district level by the end of June, with nearly 89% of them resolved.“The changes in the administrative system have reduced the hardship faced by people in getting their complaints heard and have strengthened trust in the govt,” the CM said.
