Jaipur: The North Western Railway (NWR) has recorded its highest-ever revenue in 2025-26, while significantly improving punctuality and pushing ahead with large-scale infrastructure upgrades. This was informed by Amitabh, general manager, NWR, while addressing a press conference Thursday. “The punctuality of mail and express trains reached nearly 93% during the year, placing NWR among the top-performing zones in the country,” he said. Amitabh said 77 stations are being remodelled under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. “Key stations including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Dausa, Khairthal, Sojat Road, Bandikui and Somesar are expected to be ready in the coming months, while work at Jaipur Junction and Gandhi Nagar is progressing rapidly,” he said. On financial performance, he added, “We recorded our highest-ever revenue of Rs 8,622 crore, a 7.5% increase over last year.” Passenger earnings stood at Rs 3,727 crore, while freight revenue reached Rs 3,865 crore. A record 18.45 crore passengers travelled on the zone during the period. Freight loading touched 30.53 million tonnes, surpassing the 30 million tonne target. Operational efficiency also improved, with mail and express train punctuality at 93.03%, placing NWR second among railway zones. To enhance passenger services, NWR operated 792 special trains (8,039 trips), added 1,864 temporary coaches, regularised 23 trains and introduced 13 new train pairs. Vande Bharat services were expanded with new routes connecting Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur to Delhi and Ahmedabad. Amitabh said electrification has reached 99% of the broad gauge network, while safety upgrades under the ‘Kavach’ system are progressing steadily.
