Nagpur: Nagpur University (NU) has decided to give students who have failed in previous years a final opportunity to clear their backlogs under the Choice Based System (CBS) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). However, the decision will have no impact on the university’s carry-on facility, and the students will have to clear the relevant examinations to retain their provisional admissions. The decision applies to various courses and subjects under the Faculties of Science and Technology, Commerce and Management, and Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies. Earlier, NU had announced a similar decision for BTech students and for pharmacy students as per PCI directives. Now, the scope of this opportunity has been widened, bringing more courses under its ambit.Students who failed in the first year and are therefore ineligible for admission to the third year will be granted provisional admission to the third year in colleges affiliated with the university. They will, however, get only one final opportunity to appear for their first-year examinations scheduled for Winter 2026.Similarly, students who failed in the second year and are ineligible to enter the fourth year will be given provisional admission to the fourth year and allowed to appear for the second-year examination in Winter 2026.Students who have failed in the third year and are unable to progress to the next academic level will also be granted provisional admission and given one final chance to clear their third-year examinations during Winter 2026.The provisional admissions will be confirmed only if the students pass their backlog examinations. If they fail again, their provisional admission will stand cancelled.Students availing the final opportunity will have to submit an undertaking on a Rs100 stamp paper, signed by the student, parents, and the college principal.
