Begusarai: National Thermal Power Corporation’s Barauni unit was honoured with the ‘Platinum Award’ under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) category by the Apex India Foundation during its two-day summit in Goa on May 18 and 19.NTPC Barauni deputy manager Umesh Nigam said on Wednesday that the award was conferred for its Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) initiative, which provides healthcare services to rural communities.“The MMU initiative has been successful. Through this programme, NTPC Barauni has been providing primary healthcare services, medical consultations and diagnostic support, benefiting around 2,000 people every year. It has made healthcare more accessible in rural areas,” he said.Expressing happiness over the recognition, NTPC Barauni head of project Joydeep Ghosh said the unit remains committed to the region’s social and sustainable development in the future as well.
