B Sridhar & Shikha YadavJamshedpur/Ranchi: Pet lovers across the city have to get their dogs registered with the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Krishna Kumar said. The objective of the initiative is to keep a record of pet dogs within the command limits. Registration of pets will also generate revenue for the municipal body, he said.Pet dog owners will have to physically visit the JNAC office and get their dogs registered by paying Rs 100.Complete details such as breed, name, age, sex, and colour of the dog, as well as the dog owner’s details, including name, residential address, and Aadhaar card, must be provided at the registration counter. The current anti-rabies vaccination certificate must be also produced at the notified area office by the dog owners.Pet owners will face penal action in accordance with the Jharkhand Municipal Act 2011, provided they do not get their dog registered.Meanwhile, pet dog registration continues in Ranchi under provisions laid down by the RMC. Civic records indicate that over 25,000 pet dogs were surveyed across the city in 2016, while around 1,500 are registered with the corporation.The registration process is facilitated through RMC’s authorised agency, “Hope and Animals.” An official associated with the agency said that approximately five to six pet owners complete the registration process every month.
