Mumbai: To improve safety inside detention facilities, Mumbai Police has introduced a standardised clothing for accused persons lodged in central lockups across the city. Now, male suspects taken into custody and sent to central lockups are being provided with maroon T-shirts and shorts. According to police sources, the initiative has been implemented in response to instances of accused persons ending their lives or attempting to do so while in custody.Arrested persons of different police stations are lodged in central lockups before being remanded to judicial custody or released on bail.
