Patna: Noted mathematician K C Sinha, who contested the Nov assembly election on a Jan Suraaj ticket, joined BJP on Wednesday. Ritesh Ranjan Singh alias Bittu Singh and Sandeep Kumar Singh alias Gopal Singh, who were also Jan Suraaj candidates in the last assembly polls from Digha and Maner seats respectively, also joined the BJP.An educationist by profession, Sinha served as the vice-chancellor of Nalanda Open University after retiring as the Patna Science College principal.Sinha said national interest should be the top priority and his move is to strengthen the hands of PM Narendra Modi, who is trying to make India the ‘Vishwa guru’ again through knowledge and education. “You cannot achieve much by swimming against the tide,” he said in reply to a question why he deserted Jan Suraaj, whose founder Prashant Kishor is contesting his first election from Bankipur in the July 30 assembly byelection. The byelection for the Bankipur seat is being held following the election of BJP national president Nitin Nabin to the Rajya Sabha.Bittu said it is his “ghar-wapsi” and he would never desert it again. Welcoming the new members into the BJP family, state president Sanjay Saraogi said people across the country are inspired by the central govt’s public welfare schemes and policies spearheaded by PM Narendra Modi as well as the BJP’s development-oriented ideology.Saraogi said those who joined the BJP have long been active in their respective areas and command strong recognition within society. “The BJP will benefit from their experience, social acceptance, and public outreach,” he said.He noted that in Bihar, too, the NDA govt under the leadership of Samrat Choudhary is working rapidly on the agenda of development and good governance. “The fact that leaders and workers from various parties are joining the BJP at this juncture serves as proof that the confidence of the public and political activists in the policies of the BJP and the NDA is steadily strengthening,” he said.
