Prayagraj: North Central Railway (NCR) has achieved its annual scrap disposal revenue target for 2026-27 in just six months, generating Rs 286.79 crore against Railway Board’s target of Rs 285 crore. The achievement marks a significant acceleration in the zone’s disposal of obsolete and unused railway material. The target, fixed for the entire financial year, was achieved during the first half of 2026-27, with the zone earning Rs 1.79 crore more than the stipulated amount. The exercise has enabled NCR to unlock revenue from scrap while simultaneously helping clear railway premises of unused material.Officials said the systematic disposal of scrap has also contributed to improving cleanliness and safety across railway establishments. Removal of discarded rails, machinery, equipment and other obsolete material reduces clutter in railway premises and supports efforts to maintain cleaner and safer working environments. The achievement has been attributed to focused planning and monitoring by NCR General Manager Naresh Pal Singh and Principal Chief Materials Manager S P Dwivedi. The administration also credited officials and staff involved in identifying, segregating and disposing of scrap for completing the exercise at a faster pace. With the annual target already surpassed, NCR has now set its focus on further disposal of identified scrap and making railway premises across the zone increasingly free of obsolete material.
