Silchar: The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council will hold a special budget session on Aug 3 and 4.Members will deliberate on the council’s entrusted and normal budgets for the 2026-27 financial year, according to an official notification.The session of the council’s 13th term was convened after its chairperson received a requisition signed by 20 members, meeting the mandatory two-thirds requirement of its total strength.It was summoned under the second proviso to Sub-rule (3) of Rule 36 of the Assam Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, as amended.Proceedings will begin at 11 am on both days at the NCHAC Session Hall in Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Hasao district.The notification, issued by the secretary of the NCHAC secretariat’s legislative department, said the session was convened in accordance with council rules following the members’ requisition.
