Salem: Nomination filings for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election is set to begin from Monday, March 30, with the process scheduled to continue until April 6, excluding public holidays.Salem district election officer R Brindha Devi, said “Nominations will be accepted only from 11am to 3pm.” She added that only five people including the candidate, will be allowed during the nomination filing process. Only four people can accompany the candidate to the returning officer’s office, and a maximum of three vehicles per candidate will be allowed within 100 metres of the office.360-degree surveillance cameras have been installed inside and outside nomination filing rooms, steps have been taken to ensure continuous power supply, and the entire nomination process will be video recorded.Nomination papers must be submitted in form 22. Candidates could also file nominations online through https://suvidha.eci.gov.in, and fill Formm 26 online to submit personal details and affidavit. The deposit payment could also be made through online.Candidates must submit the printed QR-coded form, signed in ink, directly to the returning officer or through the proposer. Online filing will be closed one day before the last date for nominations. “NRI candidates staying abroad have to take oath before the Indian embassy or consulate in that country,” she stated. All activities outside the election officer’s office will also be video recorded. Election officials have urged parties and independent candidates to follow the ECI guidelines when filing their nominations.
