Noida: Five people died by suicide in the past 12 hours in the city, police said on Tuesday. Two of the deaths happened in two high-rise societies. Initial enquiries suggest that stress, mental-health issues and personal or family-related issues may have been the cause behind their deaths.A 46-year-old woman allegedly jumped to her death from the 18th floor of her building in Lotus Valley Society on Tuesday morning. Her family members told a team from Sector 39 police station that she had been dealing with stress for a long period. A forensic team examined the scene, and police have initiated legal proceedings.Another case was reported from Antariksh Golf Society in Sector 2. Around 10am, a 43-year-old man who lived with his mother allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of the society. Police said he had been upset over a personal issue although the reason behind the incident is yet to be established. Investigators did not recover any suicide note from the scene.In another incident, a 17-year-old boy died after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of Super MIG Express View Apartments in Phase-2. The incident occurred at 8 am. Police said he was undergoing treatment for a mental health condition. His body was sent for an autopsy and no suicide note has been recovered.In Dadri, a 25-year-old man allegedly drank poison on Tuesday. His family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police said family members informed investigators that he was under stress. The body was sent for autopsy.A 30-year-old man allegedly died after jumping from the rooftop of a building in Bisrakh late on Monday. Police suspect he had been facing financial difficulties that may have led to the incident. After completing post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family.Police officials said that none of the five cases has resulted in any complaint from family members alleging foul play. They added that investigations are continuing, and any complaint received in the future will be examined in accordance with the law .According to National Crime Records Bureau’s ‘Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India 2024’ report, the state reported 9,180 deaths due to suicide. There were 1,70,746 suicide deaths in the country in 2024.
