NOIDA: A security guard and a staff nurse at the District Hospital in Sector 39 have been dismissed following an inquiry into a video allegedly showing the guard filling syringes with medication for patients at the hospital.The video, which surfaced on social media, purportedly shows a security guard in blue uniform deployed on the hospital’s fifth floor, filling syringes at a counter while a staff nurse was on duty.According to officials, the incident reportedly took place late on August 14 in the medical ward, where the staff nurse was posted.Hospital authorities initiated an inquiry after the video went viral and raised questions over patient safety and the involvement of an untrained security guard in handling medication meant for patients.“Taking action in this matter, staff nurse Richa Kumari and security guard Sunil Kumar have been suspended,” said Dr Ashok Kumar Jha, chief medical superintendent of the hospital.Both staff members were outsourced and employed on a contractual basis.Sunil Kumar was deployed through an Aligarh-based private agency. The hospital has issued a notice to the outsourcing agency seeking an explanation.
