Mysuru: Urban development minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah said that even though students today have free access to information in this era of rapid technological and artificial intelligence (AI) advancement, no technology can ever replace the role of a teacher.Speaking after inaugurating the district-level Teachers’ Day 2026 celebration, in commemoration of the 138th birth anniversary of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, at Kalamandira, Yathindra said education is not merely about delivering information, but about shaping students into better individuals by instilling moral values, character, and culture, and that only teachers can carry out such a noble responsibility.Yathindra promised to take steps to improve school buildings, repair classrooms, and address the shortage of teachers. The govt has already initiated the recruitment of around 15,000 teachers, he said. He praised teachers for delivering quality education in public and govt schools despite limited resources, and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the teaching community.
