Jind: Senior officials in Jind on Friday clarified that there was no shortage of cooking gas for domestic consumers, and cylinders were supplied regularly to consumers through gas agencies. Officials of the Food and Supplies Department were directed to ensure that LPG meant for domestic consumers was not used for commercial purposes under any circumstances.However, locals claimed gas cylinders were being sold at a higher rate. According to them, agency owners were charging Rs 300 to Rs 400 extra per cylinder. Sources added that farmers were also stocking diesel, keeping the upcoming season in mind. “Domestic gas cylinders were meant only for household use. If domestic LPG cylinders were found being used in hotels, dhabas, street vendors, restaurants, or any other commercial establishments, strict action would be taken against the concerned person as per the rules,” said a senior officer. He said that the administration would also conduct inspection drives from time to time to prevent misuse of domestic LPG so that common consumers did not face any inconvenience. “Consumers should not panic and stock LPG cylinders unnecessarily, but purchase them only as per their requirement,” he added. Officials stated that the administration was making every effort to ensure the smooth availability of essential commodities used in daily life. For this, concerned department officials and gas agency owners were directed to ensure timely supply of LPG cylinders to consumers. The administration was constantly monitoring the gas distribution system. If any agency was found negligent or irregular in gas distribution, strict action would be taken against it according to the rules, they added.Safidon SDM Pulkit Malhotra appealed to citizens not to pay attention to rumours and to cooperate with the administration. He said the administration’s objective was to ensure that every consumer received essential commodities smoothly and on time. He added that if any consumer faced any issue regarding gas distribution, they could inform the concerned gas agency or the administration so that the problem could be resolved immediately.
