Nagpur: Maharashtra’s deputy urban development minister Madhuri Misal on Wednesday assured the Assembly that there would be no shortage of funds for infrastructure and basic civic development works in Nagpur Municipal Corporation limits.Misal informed that the govt sanctioned a total of 4,968 crore for basic amenities and infrastructure projects across municipal corporations in Maharashtra. Of this, 2,113 crore has been earmarked for NMC projects. She informed that 346.77 crore was already released to NMC as well as Nagpur Improvement Trust through the district collector’s office.Replying to a calling attention motion raised by Congress MLA Nitin Raut regarding infrastructure projects undertaken by local self- govt bodies in Nagpur, Misal said the state govt remained fully committed to financing the city’s pending and ongoing development works. She also disclosed that an additional 500 crore was allocated through supplementary budgetary demands to accelerate these projects.“The govt is fully committed to ensuring availability of funds for all approved development works. The remaining funds will be released in phases. Nagpur’s development will not suffer due to any financial shortage,” Misal said.The minister also said citizens affected by last year’s floods would receive compensation as per govt norms. Referring to alleged irregularities involving companies linked to garbage management, she said strict action would be initiated against those found responsible based on the findings of the committee appointed to probe the matter.
