Malaysia’s Anwar Ibrahim launched a blistering attack on Israel at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, warning that the economic consequences of Middle East wars are spreading far beyond the battlefield. Anwar said countries uninvolved in the conflict are paying through insecurity, inflation and economic uncertainty, while demanding protection for civilians and vital global trade routes. He urged BRICS to unequivocally oppose aggression, occupation, “settler colonialism” and “settler terrorism.” Anwar also backed local-currency settlements to reduce dependence on traditional Western markets.
